Be precise in your wording. Your words create the action. « To phone Paul » might be fine if you precisely know what it implies. « To inform Paul about your renegotiated fees » is more explicit. Before being able to phone Paul you will have to do a lot of things : organize a meeting with people responsible for the pricing of your services, prepare necessary documents to inform them, etc. We often just write down a shortcut. And when faced with the task to do we realize that we have not all resources to accomplish it. Hence mind your wording. The question : « What is it about ? » might help to find the right words. Habits are also useful. We do not have to think. We just work. But are our habits always up-to-date and the best way to perform ? To think in processes means to analyze the best way to obtain a result. « Think, then act » was a slogan of IBM founder Thomas Watson. Abraham Lincoln was even more precise : « Give me six hours to chop down a tree, I will spend the first four sharpening the axe. » Optimize your working methods continously. We are living in a changing world. The method used yesterday may not be the best one to apply today. Proactime encourages you to design important processes of your job: how to deal with an angry customer, how to close a deal, how to negotiate, how to cool down after a stressful event. These processes or checklists can be of great help in stress situations when your mind does not work at its best. A perfect schedule is of no use if we lack the energy to apply it. Our energy cycles have ups and downs. Complexe tasks are better done in prime time. Routine tasks should be accomplished in down time. Proactime gives you the opportunity to identify your energy cycles. You can then visualize their average daily curve. They are displayed on your day's schedule as color codes to help you optimizing your planning. |
